NATO's first web geoportal for the Norwegian Air Force

T-Kartor has a long, reliable history with military mapping for Norwegian FMGT (The Norwegian Military Geographic Service), for whom T-Kartor have produced high spec aerial navigation charts (above) with stringent requirements on quality control, deliveries and update frequency.

The Norwegian Defence Logistics Organisation (FLO) has chosen T-Kartor to organise and distribute all its geographic data through a high security web geoportal.

Many data sources, including aerial photography, satellite images, vector map data, meteorological data (an external source), metadata and documents are collated and served through a high security web server to thousands of military personnel through a standard web client.

The main features of the service are as follows:

  • vast number of file formats supported
  • Single Sign-On high security access with many tiers
  • rapid mapping using high performance ERDAS Apollo Server for cataloguing, streaming and caching of data
  • international and Open Source standards adhered to including: ISO; OGC and W3C
  • thousands of users with easy, fast reliable access to geographic data
